Both Leo and Melva served a mission in Columbus, Ohio and Temple workers at the Jordan River Temple for 14 years. He was an active member of the LDS Church, where he served as Ward Clerk, Bishop and Stake Clerk. Leo loved to fish, hunt and travel which included drives in the desert. His occupations included a brakeman for the Railroad, postal carrier, and retired as an accountant for Kennecott Copper Corp. After the war he attended LDS Business College. Navy as a radar technician during World War II. Later they were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. After graduation from Tooele High School he married his sweetheart Melva Nielsen September 3, 1940. Leo was born October 6, 1920, in Grantsville, Utah to Clarence Joseph and Erma Stewart Rupp. He currently lives on his ranches in Temecula, California with his family and his horses.MAGNA- Our father, grandfather and friend Leo Rupp passed away June 21, 2011. Although there were occasional Hounds reunions in the years that immediately followed, Hunter largely stayed out of the spotlight until deciding to pursue a solo career. Following a lack of commercial success with these albums, the group broke up at the end of the decade, with Hunter retreating into songwriting again. Remaining in Chicago, Hunter soon became a founding member of 1970s band The Hounds, who recorded two albums on Columbia Records.
He earned a degree in English Literature from Northwestern University.
